RESPECT FESTIVAL 2009
The 12th annual Plymouth Respect Festival is fast approaching.
This year we're planning to continue Samba Saturday after last year's success - if you want to get involved, or if you know a samba group, then get in touch.
Once again, we'll have a selection of stages bringing you music and entertainment from around the world.
There will also be hands on opportunities with workshops, information and play areas. Plus the usual mix of foods, fun and friendship.
If you want to support us, sign up on the left as a Friend - or pass on the link to someone else. We want loads of Friends!
There's loads on the website, so do investigate and keep coming back for all your news about this year's exciting event.

Rwanda Aid Projects
Change the world with your wallet
Browse and buy affordable and fairly traded goods made by former street children, widows and disabled people in Rwanda.
100% of the proceeds that we make go directly back to Rwanda, providing opportunities for disadvantaged groups and individuals to help them help themselves.
These wonderful handmade crafts are sold by volunteers in their places of work, school fetes, old people’s homes, dinner parties and places of worship and community centres, etc.
Thank you for your support!

Plymouth Young Carers
What is a Young Carer?
Young Carers’ are children or young people under the age of 18
who look after someone in their family this can be a parent/carer,
brother, sister
The person they care for may have an illness, a disability, a
mental health problem or a substance misuse problem.
Young Carers’ take on practical and/or emotional caring
responsibilities, which are more than would be expected of
someone their age.
The caring can involve physical care such as personal care for a
parent or sibling.
This can include giving medication, helping someone get up, get
dressed, cooking and cleaning. Also helping with mobility,
shopping, paying bills and looking after most of the households
chores etc.
Or by providing emotional support to family members by listening
and supporting them, helping them through situations emotionally
as well as other members of the family that may be around for
example young brothers and sisters.
Is this you or do you know someone who is doing this?
If you are aged between 8 and 19 and live in Plymouth there is a weekly club for you.
To find out more please contact Plymouth City Council Participation team on 07899950155 or
