HAVE YOUR SAY ON RIGHTS OF WAY IN PLYMOUTH

Plymouth City Council are currently working on the production of a Rights of Way Improvement Plan (ROWIP) for the city which sets out how we will look after the many outdoor recreational walking, cycling and horse riding routes in the area over the next 10 years. The ROWIP is a strategic document through which we would like to clarify what it is people want from our network and what they might want from it in the future. This will allows us to make sure we focus our resources in the most effective manner.

Community Evening

The event includes the presentation of the University’s Community Research Awards.  In this recent competition, we asked local community organisations and charities for questions they would like to be answered in order to help them achieve their aims. We then asked researchers at the university to devise a project that could do this, and an internal university Panel has selected the successful projects. These will be announced during the evening, by Professor Steve Newstead, Deputy Vice-Chancellor.

YUEN PROJECT: BOOK LAUNCH - SWEET AND SOUR
Oral History of Chinese Communities in SW England

Story telling is a time honoured tradition that helps keep culture and history alive. It is especially important for the young of any generation to hear how their elders lived and worked and how they faced the challenges and opportunities of living in a different culture. This book is a record of the personal stories and history of individuals in Chinese Communities in South West England.  Initiated and organised by Plymouth and District Racial Equality Council (REC), and supported by National Heritage Lottery Fund, BBC, Asia Art Space Project and University of Plymouth Press, the book is produced in both Chinese and English, with a CD, preserving the individual stories and the history that would otherwise be lost to future generations.
